Death In The Night

The windows rattle in the night
The children scream in fright
Death falls in a flash of light
This morning will bring mourning.
Ask not for whom the bell tolls
Ask not for whom the bombs fall
The bell tolls anyhow
The bombs fall even now
Heralding processions in black
Protesters burning flags
Anger seething across the globe
Impotent anger, without hope;
So we march side by side
Protesters and mourners
Mourners protesting
Walking the road less travelled
Now the road often travelled
We go to the Children’s Cemetery.
